pond - Slow Social Media - Update
Well its been a few days or weeks since my first post regarding pond. Lots has happened since then!
Bugs, Bugs, more Bugs…
Yeah, we had a lot of bugs initially, mostly from myself trying to add new features… whoops!

But I was able to try out Claude Code on web for the first time… its very cool!
Its great that we have a small user base too, they really helped (and still continue) to find weird issues and logic errors.
My major learning here is to use the Plan mode for Claude extensively. I also used Opus on the app to build out and workshop new features first. That + Plan mode made a few features straight one shots, like the new invite system!
I may try out Cursor 2.0 in future, it looks quite neat.
New Features!
Its mostly the same as before. 5 posts per day, up to 5 images per post, and only 100 friends!
We did add markdown support for lengthy posts, allowing user to format their posts into mini blogs, its quite nice.
We also added invite codes along with a nice little leaderboard for most successful signups.
Oh, and we made pond a Progressive Web App! Its very interesting to play around with. Still a few small issues to iron out, but it does work.
More features are coming, though probably not many to change the core experience.

Helpful Feedback!
Since my first post, a few of you have reached out to share some neat ideas. One of you asked for a privacy policy & terms of service, which we did! (its incredibly basic and pretty vague, but its there!).
A few friends reached out to suggest new features. Even my Dad let me know to implement the invite codes.
That is to say, its all been incredibly helpful.
A lot of our work is just wondering if X feature is true to the platform, and if it adds anything. Comments are something we internally debated a bit, but ultimately think it might be better without. But it's hard to say.
If you have any feedback for us, or find things that we're messing, or even want a specific feature, don’t hesitate to shoot me an email!
Moving Forward
Having a smaller user base is nice, friends and family… mostly the intended audience.
We’ve definitely notice more activity with everyone sharing smaller moments more frequently. Lots of dog photos, morning latte's, and quite a few about the recent snow fall up here in Canada! Again, that was kind of the goal with this type of social media. So I’ll call it a success!
More updates to come.
